It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our colleague and friend Karen Kloibhofer. Karen has been a member of the CLSR family from the beginning and she will be greatly missed by all of us. She was an incredibly uplifting person who touched the lives of many; especially her “kids” at Fanshawe College.
Karen’s passion and presence were not easy to miss. When she walked into a room or got you on the other end of the phone, you couldn’t help but smile. There were no short conversations with Karen, and that’s a good thing because she always had something new and interesting to talk about. As the poster child of a Resourceful Orange, she would jump from topic to topic but keep you engaged at the same time. Karen also knew how to make things happen; in fact, she holds the record for arranging the fastest out-of-office, cross-country, order and delivery of a product in company history.
Karen wasn’t one to back down from a challenge. Even when she said “Having Pancreatic Cancer SUCKS!!!” It didn’t stop her from fighting. We would send challenges her way a lot. We knew that she would tackle them head-on, or let us know if we were being insane.
Her legacy lives on in one of the things she cared most about – skilled trades and apprenticeship. When Fanshawe College announced the creation of the Karen Kloibhofer Tools of the Trade Award, her first reaction was “I’m not gone yet!”
A celebration of life is planned for August 31st, and in lieu of flowers, Karen requested that donations be made to the Tools of the Trade Award. https://www.fanshawec.ca/foundation/give-now/karen-kloibhofer-tools-trade-award
