Actually, itā€™s not true at all! There were no t-shirts to be had, and CANNEXUS was a great experience! After a 3-year hiatus, even this introvert needed to be around people again. Thereā€™s something to be said about being in the same space as 900 other people who all have something in common, especially when that common goal is people-focused.

This year I was joined by Personality DimensionsĀ® distributor for Australia & New Zealand, Jenny Gleeson. Ā If you havenā€™t seen what Jenny has been doing on the other end of the world, take a look around her website. https://www.jennygleeson.com.au/ Regardless of the many late night or early morning Zoom conversations over the years, getting to hear about the ā€œAha!ā€ moments and successes in person reminded me of why I love doing what I do. Despite being 18,000 km away (trust me, I looked it up), people still respond to Personality DimensionsĀ® in the same positive way. The Core needs, values, strengths, and challenges of each personality preference are truly universal, and understanding what these look like for ourselves, and the other people in our lives, is the way to grow and succeed.

I came across some pretty cool stuff at CANNEXUS, but I want to bring some attention to the new Career Development Professional Centre. https://cdpc-cedc.ca/ Headed up by Deirdre Pickerell, who also happens to be a Personality Dimensions Master Trainer, and author or a number of resources, the CDPC is bringing some much needed attention to the field of Career Development. Not only is it the new home of the Competency Framework, Competency Profile, and Code of Ethics for Career Development Professionals, theyā€™re building an cohesive community for Career Development Professionals from all areas of the field. Keep an eye on them, thereā€™s some great stuff coming.

Speaking of Career Development Professionals, I want to thank my colleagues at the Career Development Practitioners Certification Board of Ontario (CDPCBO) https://cdpcbo.org/ for sharing some of their booth space in the exhibitor hall. Without it, I donā€™t think I would have connected with so many other Personality DimensionsĀ® trainers from across the country. If youā€™re in Ontario, or any of the other provinces for that matter, and you havenā€™t yet gotten your CCDP designation yet, what are you waiting for? Having your CCDP helps bring recognition to the field for yourself and your colleagues, and shows your commitment for your professionā€¦ and you get to add CCDP beside your name on your business cards!

With all this talk, and action on awareness around the Career Development Field, it still leaves me wondering, why are there no Career Development T-shirts?
